BINGLEY BEES 3 - 5 LOCKWOOD PARK DRAGONS
Newly promoted Lockwood Park faced probably their hardest match of the
season in the first game. Theire opposition was newly relegated Bingley
Bees, who spent last season in Yorkshire Premier.
A tough game from the outset, the home side soon took control with the fast
passing and nice teamwork, putting Lockwood on the back foot. The visitors
held off and managed to create several good chances of their own but failed
to capitalise. Bingleys first goal came from a short corner and their second
as they rounded the Lockwood defence and slotted the ball home. Shortley
before half time, a great run from Middleton saw Green put the ball in the
back of the net to make it 2-1 at the break.
The second half started off much the same as Bingley incresed their lead to
3-1. At that point the visitors dug deep and started to make the game their
own. Wallis latched on to the end of a cross from Green to make it 3-2 and
a further 2 goals from Green to make her hat-trick and a fine shot from
Longstaff, gave Lockwood a 5-3 victory that they thouroughly deserved.
It was a fantastic team effort and the victory now sees Lockwood at the top
of the table.
